Jeffery is "just an average guy who enjoys art." He grew up in an abusive household and knows the kind of relief art can bring to a child that has been abused or watched abuse. "As a child I had no one to help me promote my emotions through art. This did not stop me from drawing my feelings on paper. I still today after 40 years paint and write."
Help Children Become Artists
"I teach a very free form art class in a project housing facility each week," says Emily. "It introduces art in all forms to kids that may otherwise not be exposed to it. It gives them an outlet to express themselves in a healthy, fun, and creative way. I've seen the children light up each week when it's time to be involved with the art. They gain confidence with each project."

Background
Art affects a person's senses, emotions, and intellect. Among many things, art can teach people to think in a new way, help children with learning disabilities, and explain a culture movement.
With current budget cuts, many schools are forced to make cutbacks that often involve the arts. Since arts in school are less prevalent than before, it's as important as ever to promote the arts. Find the artist in you and help out with community painting classes, plays at your local theater, and school concerts and shows.
Make an effort to keep the arts alive in your community by finding an art nonprofit near you.
